Given our mission to serve the educational needs of students with learning differences, our philosophy of “Teaching Outside of the Box” is a basic premise which supports the
unique needs of our student body and each individual.
Our philosophy includes the following tenets:
Each child is unique and learns in different ways.
Students are encouraged to reach their highest level of achievement within the framework of their capabilities and talents.
Self-esteem and confidence are essential to academic success.
Many children with learning differences also have associated social and organizational difficulties.
Students are taught to advocate for themselves and become “their own best expert."
Fostering healthy relationships is essential to the whole child.
Creative and flexible teaching strategies are required to accommodate different learning styles.
Interfacing of both remedial and compensatory skills is required for successful learning.
